Fourth graders traveled back in time during for the annual Ellis Island Day!
In this extensive simulation, students, dressed as travelers from the 1900s, carried babies and luggage as they passed through checkpoints, health screenings, customs, and various obstacles in hopes of coming to America. They were even greeted by Lady Liberty (Assistant Principal Collins!)
This activity marked the end of their Human Geography unit, where students learned that 40% of Americans can trace their lineage back to the famous "immigration station."
