Kingsley Schools is excited to welcome Heather Miller to the district following the resignation of former middle school principal Richard Watson. We are thankful to Mr. Carmean and Mr. Guy for filling in during the interim.
Heather Miller will take over as the new Kingsley Middle School principal on July 1, 2022.
The Lansing-area native got her undergraduate degree in zoology from Michigan State University and worked at SeaWorld and the Magic Kingdom before realizing her passion for teaching children. She later got her teaching degree from Oakland University and went on to teach middle school in the Orlando, Florida area.
"Middle school is a passion of mine. They’re kind of coming into their own and they need people who get it and remember what that's like and can empathize with them and navigate the troubled waters of adolescence."
She joins Kingsley Schools with 20+ years in education as a middle school science teacher and assistant principal in Central Florida.
"I am really impressed with Kingsley Schools. You can tell that it's a very close-knit community that takes a lot of pride in the school system. I'm excited to meet the students and the staff and to help them realize their dream and their visions moving forward," she said.
Ms. Miller says she has family in the Interlochen area and spent many summers Up North at her family's cabin in East Jordan. She says she is excited to live in Northern Michigan where there will be plenty of space for her three dogs, Driver, Ace, and Callie, to play!
