Meet Mark Henschell, retired MSP investigator and longtime Kingsley track coach and guest lecturer!
Mark Henschell calls himself a “farm kid.” He grew up in Kingsley and graduated from the high school in 1980. After college, he worked as a teacher before entering the field of law enforcement as a Michigan State trooper. He spent the majority of his career as an investigator, digging into dozens of crimes from Houghton Lake all the way up to the Bridge.
Mark has also been a longtime supporter of Kingsley Area Schools and its student-athletes. He has been involved with the Track and Field program since 2006, serving as head coach from 2008 to 2014. He has also been a guest lecturer at the high school since 2008. Every semester, he visits Kristen Bauer’s Current Issues class during their Criminal Justice unit to talk about his career in law enforcement and making tough decisions on the job.
“When you’re talking about the struggles of law enforcement, there's nothing black and white about the investigations, or the human experience. Ultimately, decisions have to be made. And I like to tell the stories about what happened leading up to those decisions,” said Mr. Henschell. “I like telling stories. The kids haven’t gotten too tired of me yet.”
Thank you, Mark, for all that you do for KAS!
